Chapter 16.16

The Seven Bowls/Vials God’s Wrath poured out The Third Woe – Darkness – Earthquake - Jerusalem splits in half – 100 pound hail - Sores

 

 

Chapter 16 is an Informational Chapter

Seven Bowls / Vials poured out during the Last 3 ½ Years.

The Third Woe

 

     NOTE: There are SEVEN SEALS, the seventh Seal holds the SEVEN TRUMPETS; the seventh Trumpet holds the SEVEN BOWLS.  As we read the scripture it seems like a slow process, but once we hit the seventh seal, its coming pretty fast like a trip hammer.  From horrible to the worst to the most excruciating in rapid succession.

     The first six seals cover the first 3 ½ years of the tribulation period with the 7^th seal covering the last 3 ½ years, unleashing the seven trumpets and seven vials or bowls.  Some of the scriptures seem to overlap and are not in chronological order, but from John’s point of view; it’s all happening at once.

 

1^st Bowl - Painful Sores

 

Revelation 16:1-2 - Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the SEVEN ANGELS, "Go and POUR OUT the SEVEN BOWLS of

GOD'S WRATH ON THE EARTH."

² The FIRST ANGEL went and poured out his bowl on the land, and

UGLY AND PAINFUL SORES broke out on the people

WHO HAD THE MARK OF THE BEAST and worshiped his image.

 

    I feel a need to make the point that this is none other but the finger of God at work, not Satan nor the Anti-Christ.  The loud voice from heaven is none other than that of Jesus Christ unto whom all things have been committed.  This first angel withdraws and pours out on earth a plague that affects only those who took the MARK OF THE BEAST.  The plague covered them from head to foot [1]with painful ugly sours including “ulcers” and running “boils” with highly offensive odors, accompanied with pain, fever and suffering and it was INCURABLE.[2]  

     Did you see it?  In my Belief System, I cannot see how anyone in Israel could be angry with God when He in his compassion FOREWARNED them, that if they refuse to listen and did not obey all His commands and decrees, that all these CURSES would come upon them and overwhelm them.[3]

     NOTE:  There was also a remnant still alive that did not take the MARK or worship the IMAGE of the beast and were not affected by this plague, however things were still terrible for them as they could not buy or sell in order to just be able to eat.   

     This plague is similar to what happened with the Seals and Trumpets, but instead of 1/3 of the world affected, these sores are on THE WHOLE WORLD.  The Bowls are the last of the plagues and seem to magnify and intensify the previous similar plagues.   The KJV says; Vials instead of Bowls; same thing: same effect.

     The plagues of the seven bowls reminds us of the plagues that Moses brought on the Egyptians when he was affecting the Exodus of Israel.[4]   See Book 7:14 - Plagues of Egypt.

 

2^nd Bowl - Sea Creatures Die

 

Revelation 16:3 - The SECOND ANGEL poured out his bowl on the SEA, and it turned into blood like that of a dead man, and

EVERY LIVING THING IN THE SEA DIED.

 

     Second Angel, Second Bowl - As the angel correspondently before him, this angels withdraws from heaven and pours out his bowl of wrath on the earth.  The SIMILAR plague before affected only 1/3 of the sea, the reservoir teeming with Life; but this plague affects EVERY LIVING THING IN THE SEA, extending, intensifying and magnifying the plagues that have gone on before.

     Did you see it?  This is just like what happened when Moses turned the water into blood  in Egypt.

The fish in the river died and the water became so foul that the Egyptians couldn’t drink it.[5]

 

3^rd Bowl – Rivers, Springs Turn Red

 

Revelation 16:4 - The THIRD ANGEL poured out his bowl on the

RIVERS AND SPRINGS OF WATER, and they BECAME BLOOD.

⁵ Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say:

"You are just in these judgments, you who are and who were,

the Holy One, because you have so judged;

⁶FOR THEY HAVE SHED THE BLOOD OF YOUR SAINTS AND PROPHETS,

AND YOU HAVE GIVEN THEM BLOOD TO DRINK AS THEY DESERVE."

⁷ And I heard the altar respond:

"Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments."

 

     Don’t you think it’s cool, that the angels have different assignments?  God has four angels that are in charge of the four winds, N, E, S, W.[6]   The angel before this one was in charge of the salt water SEAS and this one is in charge of the fresh water RIVERS and SPRINGS.  These rivers and springs waters now TURN BLOOD RED and become unfit to drink; this is symbolic of the avenging the shed blood of the SAINTS and PROPHETS.   

     The ALTER responds: God is now answering the prayers of these saints who are under the alter praying for vengeance,  that were martyred for the word of God; for being faithful in their testimony. [7]

     This is the law of retribution: 

ü  Pharaoh of the OT ordered the male Jewish children to be drowned, so God drowned his whole bunch in the Red Sea.[8] 

ü  Haman had a gallows built to hang the Jew Mordecai on, but instead he and his sons were hung on it.[9]

4^th Bowl - Intense Heat

 

Revelation 16:8-9 - The FOURTH ANGEL poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to SCORCH PEOPLE WITH FIRE.

⁹ They were seared by the intense heat and

THEY CURSED THE NAME OF GOD,

who had control over these plagues,

BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPENT AND GLORIFY HIM.

 

     In my BS, the implication is; “some people” were scorched.[10]  I believe that believers as well as creatures are not affected by this plague.[11]  This burning is not for purification of the people, but for Judgment, you would think men would repent and seek God’s face, but not.[12]   

     Jesus said; except those days had been shortened, no flesh would have been survived: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.[13]  That statement is a word study all into its own self; there are many opinions on how short the days will be.  My BS is that Israel was in bondage for some 400 years and wandered in the wilderness for some 40 years therefore the last 3 ½ years of the tribulations is a short time... There is a teaching that it will be just 5 months the life of Locust. So what’s in your BS?

 

5^th Bowl – Darkness

 

Revelation 16:10-11 - The FIFTH ANGEL poured out his bowl on

THE THRONE OF THE BEAST, and his kingdom was

PLUNGED INTO DARKNESS. Men gnawed their tongues in agony

¹¹ and CURSED THE GOD OF HEAVEN because of their pains and their

sores, but they REFUSED TO REPENT of what they had done.

 

     This is specifically directed to the Kingdom of the Antichrist. The darkness would turn the earth extremely cold, adding to the suffering miseries.  Their pain was so intense that men gnawed their tongues and did not even notice the pain. The accumulation of these plagues is taking a toll on the wicked and now their world has turned pitch dark and instead of turning to God, their blasphemies get worse.

     Jesus foretold his disciples that after the tribulations the sun would be darkened and the moon would not give its light.[14] This has a familiar ring as we reflect on the plague of Darkness that Moses brought on Egypt, it was so dark you could feel it.[15]  My BS embraces that along with the darkness, the air was so saturated with moisture that it was very hard to breath and you could not even make a fire to give light.[16]   

 

  Romans 2:4-5 – God uses the Tribulations to bring us back to Him
⁴ Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, & patient God is with you?

Does this mean nothing to you?

Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?
⁵ But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin,

you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself.

For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed (NLT)

6^th Bowl – The Euphrates dries up

 

Revelation 16:12 - The SIXTH ANGEL poured out his bowl on

the great RIVER EUPHRATES, and its water was dried up

to prepare the way for the kings from the EAST.

    

It is reasonable to take this scripture literally.  Eastern powers like Japan, China, India and others prepare for an invasion of Israel as the waters in the Euphrates DRIES UP erasing the borders between East and West.  The kings of the East combine their armies with the Kings of the North and South.

     The Euphrates River is mentioned some 25 times in the Bible, as we open with it in Genesis and close with it in Revelation.  It is 1800 miles long and is 10 to 30 feet deep and 300 to 1200 yards wide.  It extends Northwestward from the Persian Gulf to present-day Lebanon... This is a big deal. 

 

This is actually a trap prepared by God that triggers the Battle of Armageddon.

 

Three Evil Spirits – The Satanic Trinity

 

Revelation 16:13-14 -Then I saw

THREE EVIL SPIRITS THAT LOOKED LIKE FROGS; they came

out of the mouth of the DRAGON,

out of the mouth of the BEAST and

out of the mouth of the FALSE PROPHET.

¹⁴ They are spirits of demons performing miraculous signs,

and they go out to the kings of the whole world, to gather them for

THE BATTLE ON THE GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY.

 

     Satan the Anti-God, the Anti-Christ and the False Prophet make up this counterfeit trinity. These slimy, filthy, loathsome, disgusting frogs are demonic EVIL SPIRITS of propaganda coming out of the counterfeit trinity to seduce all the kings of the world with every avenue of the FAKE news media to come out to the Battle of Armageddon.  

     Sadly, the whole world would include an army from the United States... It’s in the Book.

 

Armageddon – Har-Magedon

 

Revelation 16:15-16 - "Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he

who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him,

so that he may not go NAKED and be shamefully EXPOSED."

¹⁶ Then they GATHERED THE KINGS TOGETHER

to the place that in Hebrew is called ARMAGEDDON.

 

     Behold, I come like a thief: where have we heard that before?  Jesus has already warned us, that to the Un-believer living in DARKNESS, Christ’s return will be a surprise like a thief in the night,[17] but that will not be true for the Believer who lives in the LIGHT,  because they are looking for His return.[18]

     In our culture we do not understand the statement of KEEPING YOUR CLOTHES so you may not go naked and shamefully exposed.  J. Vernon McGee says that the captain of the temple would make his rounds during the night checking on his guards and if a guard was found sleeping on duty, he would be beaten or his CLOTHES set on fire and he would become naked and exposed; so stay awake, stay alert.

     Some Translations of the Bible say HE gathered them together, others say THEY; Belief Systems vary on this.  Is the HE, God or is THEY, Satan, the Anti-Christ and False Prophet gathering them?  In my BS, I embrace that God is directing all of this and it’s the False Trinity that does the dirty work.

     The Evil Demonic Spirits of propaganda will cause the kings of the world to come together to fight the battle of Har-Magedon.  See the Word Study IITB 15.15 Armageddon and IITB 15.16 Armageddon Revisited

     Har means Mountain and Megiddo is a very large fertile plain on this mountain in Esdraelon. There have been Ten Holy Wars or Battles fought in this Valley of Har-Magedon and others not so holy.

     The Kings of the South, Arab-African confederacy headed by Egypt and the King of the North, Russia,[19] will launch an all-out invasion against Israel. [20]

     The Arabian Peninsula of Ethiopia is the Arab States – Southern Ethiopia is Africa. – The CIS is the Commonwealth of Independent States.[21]  There are currently 12 former Soviet Republics, including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine and the Republic of Georgia.  There allies are Persia (Iran), Turkey, Ethiopia, Libya, Gomer and Torarmah.

ü  Russia wants oil...  Although they have oil, it’s not very accessible

ü  Russia wants a warm water sea port and easy oil.

ü  Russia wants the 12 billion tons of magnesium chloride and twelve billion tons of sodium chloride in the Dead Sea.  There is also 2 billion tons of potash for enriching soil.

ü  Russia’s Allies wants the land of Israel. - What a deal.

 

     There is a classic double cross by Russia against the United Arab Republic[22] as they pitch their tents between the Dead Sea and the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Zion.[23]

     Remember, in the middle of the tribulation, Russia (Gog) and its allies (Magog) led an attack against Israel in a valley in Lebanon.[24]  This is a region of mountains with a valley running from North to South.  Hamon-Gog in Hebrew means “the multitude of Gog”.  This is NOT the battle of Armageddon which will come later. Russia and the Arab nations will come against Israel and cover the land like a cloud.[25]

     Russia is an atheistic Nation. - Joseph Stalin said,

 

“We have deposed the czars of the earth and we shall now dethrone the Lord of heaven.” When Sputnik was launched, Russia said, “Our rocket has bypassed the moon.  It is nearing the sun.  We have not discovered God.  We have turned out lights in heaven that no man will be able to put on again.  We are breaking the yoke of the gospel, the OPIATE of the masses.  Let us go forth, and Christ shall be relegated to mythology.  (John Hagee)

 

     The nations of the world including the USA, know what Russia and the Arabs are up to[26] and do nothing to help Israel, but shamefully simply offer only a shallow rebuke of the actions of Russia.

     The prophet Joel pointed to this same valley where Jehoshaphat fought his battle, where the Messiah would soon destroy the armies of the nations and establish his kingdom.

 

Joel 3:9-14 - The Valley of Decision

⁹ Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare for war! Rouse the warriors! Let all the fighting men draw near and attack.

¹⁰ Beat your plowshares into swords

and your pruning hooks into spears.

Let the weakling say, `I am strong!`

¹¹ Come quickly, all you nations from every side,

and assemble there.

Bring down your warriors, O LORD!

^12`Let the nations be roused; let them advance into the

Valley of Jehoshaphat, for there

I will sit to judge all the nations on every side.

¹³ Swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full and the vats overflow so great is their wickedness!`

¹⁴ Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!

For the day of the LORD is near

IN THE VALLEY OF DECISION. NIV

 

     There’s an earthquake that swallows up masses of the enemy,[27] fire and brimstone rain down, confusion abounds and the armies start killing each other.[28]  The nature of forces unleashed on the armies sounds much like that of a nuclear bomb which can generate 150 million degrees of heat in a millionth of a second; you are disintegrated before you hit the ground.[29] There is devastation so great, that only one sixth of the Russian army survives.[30]

 

7^th Bowl - Thunder & Lightning - Earthquake – Hail

 

Revelation 16:17 - The SEVENTH ANGEL

POURED OUT HIS BOWL INTO THE AIR,

and out of the temple came a loud voice from the throne, saying,

"IT IS DONE!"

 

     This is the last of the Bowl judgments before the return of Jesus Christ the Messiah.  This bowl is poured out into the Air.   Satan’s title is the “Prince of the power of THE AIR,” [31] and now the domain of Satan is gone.[32]  Jesus Christ says, “It is done”... “IT IS FINISHED” [33] 

 

     Did you see it?  When Jesus died on the cross, He said His PLAN OF SALVATION was Finished.

     God can save the believer OUT of the world like He did Enoch before the flood[34] or He cans save you IN the flood like he did Noah;[35] you have just got to Let Go and Let God.

 

Jerusalem Splits into Three Parts

 

Revelation 16:18-20 - Then there came flashes of lightning,

rumblings, peals of thunder and a SEVERE EARTHQUAKE.

No earthquake like it has ever occurred since man has been on earth,

so tremendous was the quake.

¹⁹ THE GREAT CITY split into THREE PARTS, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the Great

and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath.

²⁰ Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found.

 

     No earthquake like it has ever occurred[36] since man has been on earth, so tremendous was the quake that the city was split into three parts.  This Great City in my BS seems to be Jerusalem, as Babylon is mentioned often separately; this earthquake convulses Jerusalem and the Mount of Olives splits.[37] 

     Note: Israel is often symbolically called Babylon because of their great evil; whoring after other gods.  This Great Earthquake occurs at this very same time the TWO WITNESSES are being caught up to heaven.[38] 

 

100 pound Hail

 

Revelation 16:21 - From the sky huge HAILSTONES

of about a (talent) hundred pounds each fell upon men.

And THEY CURSED GOD on account of the plague of hail,

because the plague was so terrible.

 

       Joshua reports that in a battle, God destroyed the Amorites with a terrible hailstorm that killed more of the enemy than the Israelites killed with their sword.[39]  This GREAT earthquake makes islands shift and disappear, mountains and cities are leveled, and what’s left is destroyed with 100 pound hail and MEN STILL CURSED GOD because the plague was so terrible.  A talent, or “talantos” in the Greek, is actually translated to be about 114 pounds.

     In the OT... a blasphemer was stoned to death... today men “get stoned” and blaspheme God. 

 

THIS EARTHQUAKE AND HAIL BRINGS THE

CONCLUSION TO THE GREAT TRIBULATIONS.

[7] Revelation 6:9-10 - THE SOULS UNDER THE ALTAR called out in a loud voice How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood

[8] Exodus 1:22 - Pharaoh issued a general order to all his people: "Every boy that is born, drown him in the Nile. But let the girls live." --Exodus 15:1 - Moses and the Israelites sang this song to GOD, what a victory! HE PITCHED HORSE AND RIDER INTO THE SEA.

[9] Esther 7:9-10 - Haman has set up a seventy-five feet tall sharpened pole that He intended to use it to impale Mordecai. The king ordered. THEN IMPALE HAMAN ON IT! So they impaled Haman on the pole he had set up for Mordecai, and the king’s anger subsided.

[10] Deuteronomy 32:24 - They shall be DEVOURED WITH BURNING HEAT with hunger and with bitter destruction and the teeth of beasts and the poison of serpents -- Malachi 4:1 - Behold, the day cometh that all that do wickedly and all the proud shall BURN as an oven; -- Isaiah 24:6 - Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are BURNED, and few men left

[16] Joel 2:1-2 - The day of the LORD is upon us, A DAY OF DARKNESS AND GLOOM, a day of thick clouds and DEEP BLACKNESS -- Joel 2:31 -THE SUN WILL BECOME DARK, and the moon will turn blood red before that great and terrible day of the LORD arrives.

[17] 1 Thessalonians 5:2 – To the Un-believer THE DAY OF THE LORD WILL COME LIKE A THIEF IN THE NIGHT.

[18] 1 Thessalonians 5:4 - But the Believer is NOT in darkness so that THIS DAY WILL NOT SURPRISE YOU LIKE A THIEF.

[19] Daniel 11:40 - At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships.

Ezekiel 38:11-12 - You will say, "I will invade a land of UN-WALLED VILLAGES; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people-all of them LIVING WITHOUT WALLS AND WITHOUT GATES AND BARS. I will plunder and loot the livestock and goods.

[20] Ezekiel 38:11-12 - You will say, "I will invade a land of un-walled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people-all of them living without walls and without gates and bars. I will plunder and loot the livestock and goods.

[21] Ezekiel 38:15 - You will come from your place in the far north, you and MANY NATIONS WITH YOU, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army.

[22] Daniel 11:40-41 - HE WILL INVADE MANY COUNTRIES and sweep through them like a flood.  He will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand.

[23] Daniel 11:42-45 - He will extend his power over many countries; Egypt will not escape. He will gain control of the treasures of gold and silver and all the riches of Egypt, with the Libyans and Nubians in submission. HE WILL PITCH HIS ROYAL TENTS between the seas at the beautiful holy mountain.

[24] Ezekiel 38:16 - You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud that covers the land. In days to come, O Gog, I will bring you against my land, so that the nations may know me when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.

[25] Habakkuk 2:17 - The violence you have done to Lebanon will overwhelm you, and your destruction of animals will terrify you. For you have shed man's blood; you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.  -- Zechariah 11:1 - Open your doors, O Lebanon, so that fire may devour your cedars!  -- Ezekiel 39:11 - On that day I will give Gog a burial place in Israel, IN THE VALLEY of those who travel east toward the Sea. It will block the way of travelers, because Gog and all his hordes will be buried there. 

SO IT WILL BE CALLED THE VALLEY OF HAMON GOG.  

[26] Ezekiel 38:13 - Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, "Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?"

 

[27] Numbers 16:30 - And the earth opens its mouth and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and THEY GO DOWN ALIVE INTO THE GRAVE,

[28] Judges 7:22 - When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the LORD caused the men throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords.

[29] Ezekiel 38:22 - I will pour down torrents of rain, hailstones and burning sulfur on him and on his troops and on the many nations with him. -- Peter 3:12 - That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will MELT in the heat.  -- Zechariah 14:12-13 - This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: THEIR FLESH WILL ROT while they are still standing on their feet, THEIR EYES WILL ROT in their sockets, and THEIR TONGUES WILL ROT in their mouths. ON THAT DAY men will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. Each man will seize the hand of another, and they will attack each other. -- 2 Peter 3:10 - But THE DAY OF THE LORD will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare

[30] Ezekiel 39:2 - And I will turn thee back, and LEAVE BUT THE SIXTH PART OF THEE, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel

[31] Ephesians 2:2 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to THE PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience:

[32] Matthew 24:29 - Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the SUN BE DARKENED, and the MOON SHALL NOT GIVE HER LIGHT, and the STARS SHALL FALL from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: -- Isaiah 51:6 -Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke -- 2 Peter 3:10 - But the DAY OF THE LORD will come as a thief in the night; and the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. --

[33] John 19:30 - When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “IT IS FINISHED,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

[34] Genesis 5:24 - ENOCH walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.
